About HitchCon
& MacGuffin Media
Meaning is the MacGuffin.
Founded in 2021, HitchCon has convened annually to study and celebrate the art and artistry of Alfred Hitchcock. Hosted by filmmaker and independent scholar Joel Gunz, HitchCon gathers an eclectic mix of film scholars, philosophers, artists and admirers to advocate for new critical and historical approaches to Hitchcock. Through Hitchcock’s work, HitchCon promotes the search for meaning in the 21st century.
Twice-weekly online gatherings.
Further, there’s the year-round series held at the MacGuffin Film Club, via Zoom. Also hosted by Joel, scholars and fans gather in a salon-like setting to screen films of Hitchcock and other cinema greats. The informal conversation that ensues routinely leads to fresh and profound insights on film and art and is among the deepest and most enriching you’ll find anywhere.
